The main cause of excess weight and obesity is an incongruous energy balance, involving a higher caloric intake than energy expended by the body during the course of the day. This mismatch can be corrected by adapting diet and lifestyle to the individual genetic profile.

Nutrigenomic analysis provides very helpful information for losing and controlling weight. These analyses are designed based on scientific literature and clinical studies, which have demonstrated a relationship between certain genetic polymorphisms and a predisposition to develop excess weight or obesity.

ObesChip is a nutrigenomic study carried out based on DNA from a saliva sample, to help the health professional establish dietary guidelines and on lifestyle recommendations most likely to succeed. It is the most specific and customized approach which permits influencing aspects of the patient's genetics which are less than favorable. It was developed specifically to identify factors predisposing weight gain. This test studies 30 polymorphisms of 12 genes to establish a risk index for each of the aspects analyzed.

What does genetic information does it provide?

  • Ÿgenetic predisposition obesity
  • Ÿenergy balance: absorption, transport, storage, and metabolism of fatty acids.
  • Ÿappetite regulation, satiety and binge eating
  • Ÿweight loss in response to exercise (metabolism of fats in response the exercise)
