Combined hair treatment to stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth in both men and women.
Androgenetic alopecia is the most common cause of progressive hair loss in both men and women. It is related to hormonal and genetic factors, particularly the action of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that gradually weakens the hair follicle until it stops producing hair.
It can appear at any age, though it becomes more common after the age of 30. In women, it is often related to stages of hormonal change (postpartum, menopause, etc.).
At Clínica Áureo we treat androgenetic alopecia from a medical and holistic perspective, combining three therapeutic pillars that work synergistically:
We begin by applying an antiandrogen (usually dutasteride) directly to the scalp. This substance blocks the action of DHT, the main factor responsible for follicular miniaturisation. Applied locally and in controlled doses, it effectively slows hair loss without significant systemic side effects.
In the same session, we apply platelet-rich plasma, an autologous concentrate obtained from the patient’s own blood through a small extraction and centrifugation process. This serum, rich in growth factors, promotes follicular regeneration, improves scalp vascularisation, and reactivates hair growth in weakened areas.
When there are no contraindications, we complement the treatment with oral supplementation adapted to each patient. This may include a vasodilator and an antiandrogen in very low doses. This combination enhances the effect of the infiltrations and helps maintain results over time.
Hair grows in natural cycles, so results are not immediate. Generally:
• From the second month, hair loss tends to decrease.
• Between 3 and 6 months, hair becomes thicker, denser, and healthier.
• The best results are observed after several sessions, as per the established plan.
The frequency depends on the scalp condition, the type of alopecia, and individual response. As a general rule:
• One session per month is recommended for 3–4 months.
• Afterwards, maintenance sessions every 4–6 months may be considered.
This treatment is suitable for men and women with early or moderate stages of androgenetic alopecia who still have active follicles. It can also be used as a complement to hair transplants to improve results and speed up recovery.
As the infiltrations are localised and the PRP is autologous (from the patient), the risk of adverse effects is very low. Oral medication is only prescribed when suitable and after medical assessment. It is a safe, minimally invasive, outpatient procedure.
Between 2 and 6 weeks after the treatment, a temporary increase in hair shedding may occur. This is a normal process called shedding effect or telogen effluvium, where the follicles renew themselves to allow stronger hair to grow. It is temporary and resolves on its own.
