What are nasal bridge wrinkles?

They are expression wrinkles that form on the sides of the nasal bridge, especially visible when we smile or make gestures similar to those made by rabbits with their noses, hence in Palma de Mallorca and many other parts of the world they are known as "Bunny lines". These wrinkles, like the others, if left untreated can become more pronounced over time due to repeated facial movement.

Nasal bridge wrinkles are primarily caused by contraction of the nasalis muscle, specifically the transverse portion of this muscle. The nasalis is a thin muscle that runs along the bridge of the nose and is responsible for compressing the nares, which contributes to the formation of these wrinkles.

How do we treat nasal bridge wrinkles or bunny lines?

At Clínica Áureo we treat these expression wrinkles, relaxing with neuromodulators the transversal muscle that causes their appearance.

1. 1. Initial evaluation: We perform a detailed evaluation to identify the extent of the wrinkles and plan the treatment.
2. 2. Application of the neuromodulator: This is injected at specific points around the nasalis muscle to relax it.
3. 3. Follow-up: After approximately 15 days we schedule a follow-up visit to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment and make adjustments if necessary.

Post-treatment recommendations

After treatment, it is essential to follow these recommendations to maximize results and minimize possible side effects:

• • Avoid touching or massaging the treated area: To prevent dispersion of the toxin.
• • Stay in an upright position: For at least 4 hours after treatment.
• • No strenuous exercise: During the first 24 hours.
• • Avoid exposure to sun and extreme heat: During the first 48 hours.

Time of effect of the bunny lines treatment.

The effects of the neuromodulator begin to be visible 3 to 5 days after treatment, with a maximum effect reached in about two weeks. Results usually last between 4 to 6 months, depending on individual factors such as the patient's muscle activity and metabolism.

Possible side effects

Although it is generally a very safe treatment, some side effects may occur, including:

• • Swelling or redness at the injection site.
• • Mild bruising.
