It is increasingly clear to us that, no matter what, by treating the lower third of your face it will become more harmonized and attractive. With the passing of time, the chin loses its structure or shrinks, reducing its projection and its firmness, and/or blurring the facial oval and mandibular arch.
A defined mandibular arch, a chin that is in proportion with the rest of your face and a well-defined facial oval are aspects that determine whether a face is attractive or not, hence the importance of treating this lower third of your face whenever necessary.
By playing with the patient's bone structure, we are able to project or conceal a chin and/or define the lines that create both the mandibular arch and the facial oval, improving the harmonization of the patient's face safely and with immediate results without needing an operation, as is the case with the well-known mentoplasty procedure.
• With a small or retracted chin.
• Whose lower jaw that sits behind the upper jaw, whose defect is mainly seen in profile.
• That have aging of the lower third of the face and neck (jowls) causing sagging skin, which can translate into a poorly or undefined jaw line, chin, and facial oval.
• Who want a more masculine face, creating a mandibular arch and/or chin that is larger, squarer, and more defined.
By injecting dermal fillers in deeper layers, we can compensate volume or create it where it is missing, and for this, we can both use calcium hydroxyapatite (Radiesse) and hyaluronic acid (Juvederm, Restylane or Belotero).
It is also a great procedure to combine with other aesthetic medicine treatments, for example, we can use thread face lifting to raise a jowl (sagging on the sides of the chin) or to restore the mandibular arch, or we can treat some points in people with very powerful muscles to harmonize and soften this facial contour.
Both chin augmentation and mandibular or facial oval marking are simple procedures that we perform in a 20-30-minute consultation at Clínica Áureo. It does not require the use of anaesthesia and does not usually have any adverse effects beyond a slight inflammation, redness or a bruise; therefore, it does not require medical leave or recovery time, and the patient can immediately continue with their usual life.
Although the results are immediate, it will not be until after a few weeks that they can be considered definitive.
