CLITORAL HYPERTROPHY refers to an abnormally enlarged clitoris which takes on the appearance of a small penis, creating major discomfort for the woman in question, both aestheticallyand in terms of bodily function. Clitoral hypertrophy causes hypersensitivity in the region, such that sexual intercourse may be annoying and painful. This unpleasant set of circumstances can psychologically impact the women who suffer from it.

The surgical procedure consists of removing excess tissue and repositioning the clitoris into its correct position, so that its sensitivity and functionality are retained in a proportionate manner, while achieving a better aesthetic appearance as well.

It is a simple and short procedure that may last around thirty minutes or an hour. It is performed under local anesthesia, possibly in combination with sedation to ensure the patient's ease of mind. Absorbable sutures are used for this procedure, so it is not necessary to remove them.

Post-operative recovery requires rest for about four days. It is possible to experience swelling and discomfort in the treated area, but after a few days, patients will be able to return to their daily routine, and to normal sexual relations after a month.
