We already know that the facial laser is a revolution in Aesthetic Medicine, not only for its ability to reset the skin and make it capable of repairing the lesions caused in its DNA by the multiple aggressions to which we subject it throughout our lives, but also for the regeneration that it implies at dermal level with a synthesis of collagen and elastin and a rearrangement of the scaffolding that these fibers represent in the structure of the skin.
But not just any type of facial laser, of course not. The most important thing is to identify the problem that our skin presents. We can focus on dark or vascular spots, sun or hormonal lesions, etc. but many times what will occupy and concern us will be the texture, appearance and quality of the skin. That is when we need to go up a step in facial lasers and talk about non-ablative fractional technology.
The Frax Pro 1550 fractional laser system consists of a diode with a wavelength of 1550 nanometers that can reach a depth in the dermis of 800 micrometers. This means a deep level skin resurfacing that will give us a renewed and rejuvenated skin. How does it do it? By passing its handpiece over the face (equipped with a tiny roller that rotates smoothly when sliding it), it shoots micro beams of diode laser on the surface where we move. These minidisparos will cause microscopic columns of protein coagulation in the dermis, in simple terms we could say that they are microcolumns of burns that, although they are almost invisible to us because they are so microscopic, for the dermis that is very thin, they are a deep burn. The healthy skin around this micro-burn in column will repair the injured skin from the inside out.
This super healing of the skin will cause multiple benefits: the creation of new components of the skin by restoring the injured parts, the retraction of the tissue by this little burn that heals and a kind of physical peeling by removing the most superficial layers of the skin that are being eliminated (dead cells). But the most beneficial thing is a renewal of the skin that makes it appear as rejuvenated and totally repaired. In fact, if we could see it by biopsy we would appreciate a skin with more collagen and better organized, with new and more elastic elastin fibers and with less stratum corneum.
To perform the session we use topical anesthesia in the form of cream that the patient has to put at home previously and come with it applied to the consultation. The treatment will last about 20 minutes and after performing it the patient has a burning sensation and erythema (reddened face) for about an hour, after that time there is no discomfort and microcostritas appear all over the face that are not very visible but if they can give a feeling of darker skin and especially roughness to the touch.
It is very important to take care of the skin in the following days with a repairing cream that we will provide you and that has sun protection incorporated. This cream should be used regularly for a week or 10 days during which time the scabs will fall off and you will be scheduled for a review of the skin in the clinic to see how the healing process is evolving. The number of sessions will always depend on the condition of the skin and the individualized conditions of the patient.
